Molar Specific Heat Capacity (C = (1/μ)(ΔQ/ΔT))
jee-mainjee-advanced
C = (1/μ)(ΔQ/ΔT)
What each symbol means
| Symbol | What it stands for |
|---|---|
| C | Molar specific heat capacity (J mol⁻¹ K⁻¹) |
| μ | Number of moles (mol) |
| ΔQ | Heat supplied (J) |
| ΔT | Temperature change (K) |
When to use this
Heat capacity per mole. Independent of amount. Depends on substance, temperature, and conditions. For gases must specify constant P or V. Note: NCERT uses μ for number of moles; most international textbooks and JEE solutions use n. Both are correct.
